Training & Development

The importance of ongoing training and development is deeply embedded in our culture and everyone within the firm - from trainees to the senior partner - has their own career-long learning plan. It's how we stay on top of our game in terms of legal and sector developments and it's how lawyers learn how to become team managers, relationship managers and ultimately practice managers.

As a trainee joining the firm we want you to progress as far and as fast as your abilities allow and we are committed to providing you with the training and the opportunities to do so.

The Law Society:

In England & Wales: Professional Skills Course (PSC)
During the training contract the firm runs the PSC course internally linking in the Law Society's requirements with those of Pinsent Masons. This coupled with the carefully selected range of electives go towards ensuring the training has a practical and immediate benefit to all the trainees.
In Scotland: Professional Competence Course (PCC)
The Scottish trainees attend the PCC off-site during their first year. In addition the trainees in Scotland will also be given exposure to selected parts of the tailored PSC course.

During each of the four seats all trainees will benefit from practice-specific courses, seminars and workshops. These will ensure that you are able to make the most of the opportunities in each seat. In addition to client and external speaker seminars the firm encourages lawyers at all levels to share their knowledge and skills by running training seminars for their peers across specialisms and industry sectors.
