As part of its Growth Review the Government has asked the Professional and Business Services Group* to give its view on what are the significant barriers to growth for medium sized businesses.

We want to know what you consider to be the barriers to your growth and are conducting a survey to find out.  We will collect the results, put them together with research from other members of the Professional and Business Services Group and present the findings to BIS to help the Government formulate policy that will help you to grow.

In our work so far we have found that these can be common problems.

  • Employment legislation
  • Accounting and company law
  • Access to finance – bank or other
  • General business confidence
  • Managerial skills
  • Innovation capability and application
  • Understanding international markets
  • Ability to comply with overseas regulation and standards
  • Export support
  • Bribery Act

*About the Professional and Business Services Group

Chris Mullen, our Senior Partner, is a member of the Professional and Business Services Group.  This is an independent group of representatives from  the professional services sector in the UK, comprising accountancy; actuaries; engineering and technical consultants; HR and recruitment consultants; information and research; land, property and construction; legal; management consultants and IT services; marketing services and shipping industry services.
