Age Discrimination
Everyone has an age and since October 2006, all employees have been able to take legal action against their employer if they believe they have been discriminated against on age grounds. The impact of age laws is likely to be very significant and it is essential for employers to gear themselves up for the challenges the new laws will bring.
We have advised many large employers from both the private and public sectors on such diverse issues as operating the statutory retirement procedure, modifying enhanced redundancy schemes to make them age-compliant and handling age-related grievances.
We have also launched a new service advising employers on the benefits and barriers of operating without a set retirement age.
