Trade Unions & Collective Issues
We have considerable experience of advising employers on trade union and collective issues and have a specialist trade union team, led by partner, Chris Booth. We advise clients on all types of collective and trade union issues, ranging from applications to the CAC for trade union recognition to advising on, and throughout, proposed industrial action.
Other areas where our clients increasingly need guidance is the relatively new provisions contained in section 145 of TULR(C)A which relate, amongst other things, to the inducement of employees to give up collective bargaining. These provisions are considerably wider than at first thought and a number of our clients have fallen into difficulties when they failed to appreciate their scope. In advising on this area, we can draw upon our experience and the fact that we acted in the only reported case in this area (Thompson & Others v Asda).
We run a series of seminars throughout the year on collective and trade union issues and provide updates on new developments. We also speak at external seminars with specialist business groups and bodies.
