We empower our clients to achieve more such as putting millions of viewers in the driving seat
Vislink has been an established client of Pinsent Masons over the last ten years as the Group has turned from an Irish listed engineering conglomerate to a UK listed business strategically focussed on providing secure communications to the broadcast and law enforcement and public safety markets.
Most recently, in 2010 Vislink sold its marine and energy video operations to Cooper Industries for £32.5 million. In 2011 Vislink returned £5.0 million of cash to shareholders through a tender offer and bought the microwave technology company Gigawave for £3.75 million. Gigawave expands Vislinks reach into the broadcast market; Gigawave provides the “on board” transmission equipment used in the worldwide broadcast of a wide range of motor sport events as well as Americas Cup and Olympic sailing, to name a few, bringing the reality of these sports to our homes.
As Vislink has gone about changing the nature of its whole business, finance director James Trumper has needed more than a law firm that would deal with the mechanics of major international acquisitions, though naturally we took care of that. What he needed was a partner to look at the moves Vislink was making and to give strategic advice. He needed someone to look at companies and their technologies and make sure that Vislink was going to get the intellectual property, the contracts and the assets that it needed. And they wanted that advice from a long-trusted advisor.
In a partnership spanning 10 years we have provided almost every kind of legal advice to Vislink, but in the past year our relationship has grown into one of true partnership that enabled the company to change its business with the speed and certainty.
