Retail Distribution Review

Pinsent Masons Insurance Sector Report

The Financial Services Authority's Retail Distribution Review (RDR) aims to remedy the recurrent problems in the market for the distribution of retail investment products.  Following the release of the FSA’s November 2008 Feedback Statement, Pinsent Masons' Insurance Sector commissioned an independent research survey into the market’s response to the RDR process and its proposals.

We interviewed senior executives from 130 organisations involved in the investment, life and pensions industry including IFAs, life companies, fund management companies, friendly societies and wrap/platform companies to understand how they thought the RDR was going to affect them.

The survey results provided the background for a Pinsent Masons Report aimed at providing analysis and commentary on the challenges and implications of implementing the proposals. The publication contains contributions from across the Insurance Sector including our Life, Banking, Competition and E-Commerce teams.
