Pinsent Masons appointed legal adviser for Government broadband project

International law firm Pinsent Masons has been appointed by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to act as legal advisers on a £530 million project to deliver high-speed broadband across the UK.

The project is a key priority for the Coalition Government to deliver super fast broadband to homes across the UK. To deliver the project, Pinsent Masons will field a cross-practice team, advising on areas such as commercial projects, state aid, telecoms, procurement and local government law for up to four years.

Simon Colvin, partner at Pinsent Masons who led the team said, "We are delighted to be working on such an important project for the UK; our cross-practice team will be required to support both central and local government.  Working for the public sector is an important priority for Pinsent Masons and helping to deliver this project will provide us with a significant opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to Government and to transforming broadband in the UK."
