Pinsent Masons advises on Interflora acquisition of Flying Brands Gifts Division

International law firm Pinsent Masons has advised Interflora on the acquisition of the Gifts Division of Flying Brands Limited.

Interflora, the leading international flowers business owned by Nasdaq listed United Online, Inc., has acquired the Jersey-based Flying Brands Gifts Division which comprises of Flying Flowers and Flowers Direct and the floristry business trading under the Drake Algar name. Flying Flowers, which was established in 1981, is a leading multi-channel retailer specialising in floral gifts and Flowers Direct, established in 2002, comprises of an online floral gifts business and a florist membership network across the UK. 

Rhys Hughes, President of Interflora in the UK, said: "This purchase will help Interflora broaden its Flower Experts position in the UK. These brands have already established positions in the floral and gifting markets and our intention is to develop them further within a wider family of Interflora brands. We believe that we can enhance and grow their existing customer and florist offerings which in turn will enhance the wide range of products and services available to Interflora customers and Interflora florists."

 The Pinsent Masons team advising on the deal was led by Corporate Partner Peter Wood and Corporate Senior Associate Shiv Sibal.
