Pinsent Masons named legal industry ‘diversity champions’

16 Nov 2015 | 01:57 pm | 1 min. read

International law firm Pinsent Masons has been named as one of five “diversity champions” in The Lawyer UK 200 Diversity Report 2015.

The Diversity Audit highlights firms that have found ways of making their organisations more inclusive places to work and who are seen as leaders in diversity across the profession. Pinsent Masons stands out for the way in which it has tackled the issues that have given rise to a socially constrained profession and the way in which the firm has woven diversity and inclusion into strategic priorities.

In addition to having networks focused on all the main strands of diversity, Pinsent Masons has made diversity a board-level issue with strong diverse role models in high-profile positions. The firm has also set aspirational targets to improve gender diversity in the partnership as part of its Project Sky initiative.

The report further identifies Pinsent Masons’ managing partner John Cleland and David Isaac, head of advanced manufacturing and technology sector and LGBT, as ‘diversity role models’. John is one of a select number of Managing Partners in the UK to have attended a State school, while David’s efforts to promote LGBT and other diversity issues resulted in his being made a CBE.

Pinsent Masons’ senior partner Richard Foley said:

“We are delighted that we have been ranked in The Lawyer UK 200 Diversity Report 2015. The firm takes its commitment to inclusion very seriously, we understand that getting the best results for the business depends on drawing talent from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. Pinsent Masons is recognised by Stonewall as a leading employer on diversity issues and we will continue to work together to promote the benefits of diversity.”
