International law firm Pinsent Masons has been awarded the National Equality Standard (NES) for equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK.

Developed by professional services organisation EY, the NES, analyses HR and business processes at UK companies. Following a series of interviews across the firm Pinsent Masons has been certified for its work in promoting equality.

Chair of the firm's Diversity Steering Group and head of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology, David Isaac, said: "The NES is a highly respected standard so I'm delighted to see so much of the work we're doing endorsed or described as outstanding.

"We are one of the few law firms which have been accredited. The importance of the NES report is that notwithstanding the huge progress the firm has made, we now have an objective view of the next steps for us in ensuring our diversity and inclusion agenda continues to move forward.”

Project Sky, the firm’s programme aimed at improving gender balance in its partnership, was highlighted by the NES as an initiative that had successfully promoted diversity at the firm.

CEO of the NES, Arun Batra, said: "Pinsent Masons demonstrated all the qualities of an exceptionally high performing organisation that clearly places diversity and inclusiveness at the core of its business."
