About Chris

Chris is Head of Office in Leeds, and a Partner specialising in senior executive dismissals, restrictive covenants, discrimination and trade union law.  He has 25 years experience of an employment tribunal caseload.  He has acted for a number of household names including M&S, RAC plc, Aviva , Pace plc, Provident Financial plc, International Personal Finance plc, William Hill, and GNER (as was).

Experience includes advising the Chairman of Mid-Yorkshire NHS Trust on the implications of an ET finding of race/sex discrimination against the HR Director and two Consultants (where the compensation awarded had been £4.5m, the highest ever in the UK), the outsourcing by M&S of its call centre activities in Warrington, the application by the Bakers Union for trade union recognition (resulting in a ballot) at Seabrook Potato Crisps Ltd and successfully defending claims against William Hill by employees dismissed for breaching its “think 21” policy, in circumstances where William Hill had taken a industry leading stance to comply with the Gambling Act provisions around under-age gambling, as well as many FTSE 250 Board level exit/entry arrangements and packages.

"Chris Booth inspires confidence.  He grasps issues quickly and provides effective advice which is commercial and straight to the point.  Chris's ability never to make a meal of things is unusual and refreshing." Philip Clarke, Group Company Secretary, Shepherd Building Group.
