George is a Legal Director who specialises in, and has more than a decade of experience of, tax disputes.
A significant proportion of his work is group litigation against HMRC for breaches of EU law. He has worked on almost every such case to go to the European Court of Justice from the UK.
The remainder of his practice is divided between advising large corporates on using litigation techniques to achieve quick and satisfactory settlement in aspect disputes with HMRC; HRCP and MCRP settlements; advising accountancy firms caught up in HMRC civil and criminal investigations; and advising individuals subject to HMRC criminal and civil investigations.
A former Fast Stream civil servant, Inspector of Taxes, and Inland Revenue Policy Adviser on corporation tax reform, he writes and presents widely in the UK and EU on cross border tax issues. He is also a CEDR accredited mediator.
