Paul heads the firm's client relationships for the Energy & Natural Resources Sector. He specialises in coal, gas and nuclear projects as well as large renewables, emissions trading and emissions and is currently leading on several energy generation new build projects including CCGT, Nuclear, Biomass and CHP plants as well as Energy from Waste facilities. Recent transactions include due diligence into the potential purchase of British Energy by a European Utility, the permitting of a 1200MW CCGT plant in Kent, s.36 Electricity Act consent for a biomass and EfW plant in Essex, purchase of land adjacent to Sellafield for a 3600MW nuclear power station, advising on nuclear liability regimes and market entry in the UK, South Africa and China and schemes for the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority as well as International Nuclear Services. He is assisting on Clean Development Mechanism projects in China, advising a Chinese State Owned Enterprise and various suppliers to the international nuclear supply chain.
He is a member of the World Nuclear Association, Nuclear Industry Association, several climate change and sustainability working groups including the All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group.
