Amir is one of the very few lawyers in the Gulf who has studied and practiced in both sophisticated common law and civil law jurisdictions. Amir is able to apply this knowledge of civil and common law to the issues arising in legal documentation used in the Gulf including those agreements that are LMA based.
Amir has extensive experience acting on multi-sourced (Islamic) and ECA-supported financings and has worked on some of the big-ticket finance deals in the Middle East. He has been based in the region for 5 years. He brings a deep knowledge of Islamic finance acquired through completing a thesis on legal aspects of Islamic finance transactions and formed a key part of the Islamic finance team that won a Sheikh Maktoum-endorsed global recognition in Islamic finance award in 2008.
He is a frequent speaker on finance and Islamic finance topics and has recently spoken at the MEED Project Finance Conference 2011 and 2012. Amir Ahmad is recommended for India related finance work in the 2012 edition of India Business Law Journal.
