Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed restructuring expert Charles Maunder as a Banking & Restructuring partner within their Finance and Projects group. Charles will commence his role in November.

Charles joins from Michelmores, where he has been for the past 15 years and was Head of the Banking Restructuring & Insolvency team.

With over 25 years' experience, Charles is a specialist non-contentious restructuring and insolvency lawyer with a particular focus on independent director advisory work on major restructurings. He has played an important role on many of the large UK restructurings in recent years, including Galapagos SA, Mothercare and Flybe.

Charles regularly provides advice to corporates and lenders on debt restructuring and is an experienced finance lawyer in areas such as syndicated, bi-lateral and junior loans.

He will work with clients across each of the firm's key sectors including Financial Services, Energy, Infrastructure, Technology, Science & Industry and Real Estate. Martin Bishop, Head of Banking & Restructuring said:

"We are looking forward to welcoming Charles to the firm. He is an impressive and experienced restructuring practitioner with a versatile and adaptable skillset and will be an excellent fit within our existing banking and restructuring team."

Steven Cottee, Banking & Restructuring partner added:

"With many years’ experience working in the London Market, Charles' reputation precedes him and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the team. His appointment brings complementary skills to our market-leading Restructuring team at a time when we are busier than ever and will also enable us to continue to deliver on a number of our strategic priorities.”

Charles' appointment follows the promotion of Gemma Kaplan to partner in May. Gemma is one of the team’s contentious restructuring specialists in London.
