NHS Estate Generation
The regeneration of deprived and disadvantaged areas, utilising redundant public sector assets, is a key Government policy for both now and the future. Re-using NHS land to benefit the wider community is a cornerstone of this strategy. The regeneration of estates can also be used to achieve related health sector objectives (science parks, staff and student accommodation, retirement villages) and/or introduce financial gains for health bodies as their assets are used to the best financial effect.
We are expert not only in the delivery of estate regeneration but in the structuring of delivery vehicles to achieve efficiently, the primary objectives of multiple stakeholders.
Our lawyers are experts in the key disciplines required to implement that strategy, providing a joined up approach on these complex projects.
We provide a depth and breadth of service in which clients can take comfort, aware that we know how to project manage a deal to closing.
Examples of our expertise includes:
- EP Hospitals Programme – we have advised English Partnerships on a number of its disposals of former NHS hospital sites including Park Prewett, Laybourne Grange, St Augustins and the Epsom Hospital Cluster. All involve the provision of significant new housing, infrastructure and associated facilities.
- Hospital Retail Facilities – advising on the development of retail facilities, such as those at York District Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
