Pinsent Masons has closed more UK PFI / PPP Projects than any other law firm and a large number of these have been in the health sector.  This has enabled us to gain a thorough knowledge of traditional PPP models, keep abreast of all current issues, adapt to the changing nature of the sector and to develop new partnering models.

In 2006 and 2007 our firm won Best Legal Advisor at the Public Private Finance Awards and out health sector team is one of the largest and most experienced in the UK.  We have around 15 lawyers who spend the majority of their time advising in this sector and we have advised on over 60 major partnership projects in the health sector worth over £2.5bn and are currently advising on health partnership projects with a capital value of around £1bn.

Our team has closed around 30 health PFI projects with half of these being on the NHS side.  These projects included the largest hospital PFI projects in 2002, 2003 and 2006 and included the first project to incorporate the Retention of Employment Model.

National Decontamination Project

We have advised the Department of Health on the structuring and roll out of the National Decontamination Project and we are currently bringing to close half a dozen individual Decontamination Projects around the country.

Our practice has been at the forefront of the LIFT partnership model and we have brought to Financial Close over one third of all LIFT schemes.

Independent Sector Treatment Centres

Our team has advised both the private and public sectors in relation to the ISTC Programme and has a working knowledge of this model of partnering.

The Care Pathway
