  • Successfully securing for a charity a conditional discharge following a prosecution arising from exposure to Legionella
  • Successfully defending an international petroleum company in a four week jury trial following a fatal accident in the North Sea
  • Successfully defending a global construction company in a two week HSE trial at the Old Bailey arising from a site fatality caused by a steel beam falling from a lorry
  • Successfully defending a UK fit out company in an HSE trial at the Old Bailey following a lift shaft fatality
  • Representing a major UK contractor in a 14-week trial as a part of a high profile prosecution of a large retailer relating to the management of asbestos in the course of a major store refurbishment project.  The team also represented the contractor in subsequent hearings in the Court of Appeal. The case is the lead authority exploring the nature of asbestos risk that duty holders are required to manage
  • H&S advisers to some of the UK's major supermarket and department store chains
  • Successfully defending a major retail client in a five-day trial concerning customer safety
  • Successfully persuading the Court to drop criminal charges against a managing director, which had been based on the allegation that his neglect had caused the company’s breach that led to an employee’s death carrying out roadworks
  • Successful track record defending fire safety prosecutions in England and Scotland: acquittals achieved for a major retailer and separately for an insolvency practitioner; also persuaded the fire authorities to drop numerous charges against an oil company, two other major supermarkets and a supermarket manager
  • Advising on wind farm fatalities in England and Scotland 
  • Advising an Oil and Gas major on health, safety and environmental liabilities and licensing requirements associated with a facility in Qatar
  • Successfully defending a joint venture between three international contractors in Hong Kong against 15 summonses relating to alleged safety violations on a harbour reclamation contract
