Pinsent Masons Australia wins place on Legal Innovation Index 2018

Agile working and China-linked initiatives drive firm’s recognition as one of Australia’s leading legal innovators

International law firm Pinsent Masons has once again been recognised for its innovation in legal services, winning a place on the distinguished 2018 Legal Innovation Index awarded by Janders Dean.

The win was driven by the firm’s introduction of a full agility work platform in its Melbourne offices and a graduate recruitment program aimed at giving clients access to the cream of Chinese legal talent.

The full agility model introduced earlier this year shifts the focus for employees from a 9-5 office presence, or presenteeism, to a focus on recognising outcomes delivered for clients. Delivering maximum flexibility and minimal constraints, the Melbourne office agile working model is designed to empower employees to choose where, when, and how they want to work to meet individual, legal practice and firm goals.

The firm’s new international trainee qualification program recognises the increasing importance of China-driven and ‘Belt and Road’ initiatives to legal practice in the region, building a pipeline of talent to support Asia Pacific clients. The graduate program sees Pinsent Masons recruit and nurture top Chinese emerging legal talent from Australian law schools. The talent is integrated into the firm’s Asia Pacific business through ongoing training and mentoring by partners in Australia and China over three years.

The accreditation follows Pinsent Masons’ wins last month at the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia Awards where it was named among the ten most innovative international firms in the Asia Pacific region. The firm has also been named among the ten most innovative law firms in Europe.
