New Private Equity IPOs Report, April 2017
We are pleased to share the inside story and key trends of the IPOs of private equity backed companies on the London markets in 2016, following the substantial market interest our report covering private equity IPOs in 2013 - 2015 generated last year.
IPOs remain a vital tool in the execution of the exit strategy, and we believe that the outlook for the IPO market in 2017 is strong with an increased number of private equity exits predicted.
The key highlights from the report are:
- There were 60 IPOs in 2016 on the London Markets (2015:68).
- This year’s IPOs raised £6.7 billion for companies and selling shareholders (2015:£14.2 billion).
- There were 16 private equity backed IPOs evenly allocated across AIM and the Main Market.
- There were no full exits on IPO for private equity shareholders. However, as a basket shares in the private equity backed companies were up 88% on average at year end.
In 2016 Pinsent Masons advised clients on a wide range of capital markets transactions and on over £2 billion of mid-market private equity transactions. This blend of experience makes us well placed to report again this year on the trends in the private equity IPO market.
You might find that a meeting with one of our Corporate Finance and Private Equity partners would bring the report to life and provide you and your colleagues with a great deal more colour.
