About Christoph Benedict

Christoph’s practice is focused on engineering and construction, especially in large scale projects. He is at ease in addressing highly technical engineering and technology issues and he has led negotiation and counsel teams on oil and gas projects, transport infrastructure, plant engineering, construction and refurbishment projects in numerous countries on all continents.

Two decades of representing parties in litigation and arbitration under many applicable laws, both common law and civil law on all five continents  have seen him acting under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, DIS, and the Stockholm and Milan Chambers of Commerce, as well as in contractual mediations and ad-hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL Rules and otherwise.  

Christoph is the author of numerous publications and is a honorary Professor at Swansea University, Wales. He teaches also at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at Dundee University, Scotland, at Heidelberg University and the “Europa-Institut” of Saarbrucken University.

He served as Inaugural Member of the International Academy of Construction Lawyers (IACL), as Chairman of the German Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and currently is a member of the Advisory Board of The German Institution of Arbitration (DIS). He holds other honarary posts at BDI, DIHK, VDMA and BIAC at OECD.
