Ian focuses on TMT Disputes and Cyber, specialising in media litigation, data protection including data breaches and technology related matters.

Ian advises on media law including defamation, privacy and data protection. Technology is increasingly at the core of disputes, where the battleground is now focused on data, technology and online issues. Ian has a wealth of experience in defending defamation and ‘Right to be Forgotten’ claims. Ian also supports the firm’s corporate reputation management practice, helping corporate clients navigate reputational crises when they arise by advising on potential claims in defamation and malicious falsehood.

Ian is a cyber specialist with over 8 years experience of managing data breaches for corporate and insurer clients. This includes acting as ‘breach coach’, instructing IT forensics teams, managing regulatory investigations (ICO and FCA), cooperating with criminal authorities, engaging with credit monitoring services providers and dealing with third party claims arising out of data breaches.

Ian’s practice is focused on the insurance sector where he has built up considerable experience, with a particular focus on TMT disputes, data risks and cyber liability issues, TMT focused insurance product development and policy wording work.

Ian also advises on technology matters, and has been involved in a number of substantial technology disputes over the last 15 years.
