About Steven Porter

Steven is a Partner and Head of our Tax Investigations practice. He is recognised as one of the leading tax disputes practitioners in the UK.

Steven acts for corporates and individual clients and specialises in resolving all forms of tax disputes with a particular focus on high profile and complex matters. He has wide experience of tax investigations including disclosure of tax irregularities, failed tax planning, tax avoidance and tax fraud and is adept at pro-actively resolving tax disputes and advising on HMRC powers. Where settlement cannot be reached, Steven has handled tax litigation, including alternative dispute resolution, appealing to the Tax Tribunal and the higher courts up to the Supreme Court, references to the European Court, judicial reviews and in tax related commercial disputes and professional indemnity matters.

Part of Steven’s practice involves advising clients on avoiding unwanted tax disputes and he does so particularly in the areas of real estate and residency issues for both corporates and High Net Worth Individuals.
