About Werner

Werner is a Partner specialising in Tax law. He has over thirty years' experience providing German and international tax advice on corporate and financial transactions, as well as supporting clients regarding ongoing tax matters and tax litigation. His main practice areas are the income, corporation, trade, sales and property transfer tax aspects of corporate transactions of all kinds, for example concerning corporate and financial restructuring (including conversion operations) or classic and structured financing, as well as self-disclosure and tax litigation matters. He is an expert lawyer for tax law (Fachanwalt für Steuerrecht). Werner has published various articles on tax matters. He is the author of Euroforum management training materials focusing on securitisation transactions.

  • Advising private equity investors on the acquisition of a German food company and on the tax aspects of the acquisition of a large German housing company and refinancing of the purchase by means of a structured finance transaction
  • Advising on the tax aspects of numerous M&A transactions incl. reorganizations
  • Advising lenders on the tax aspects of various corporate and financial restructuring transactions
  • Advising a major German bank on the tax aspects of numerous structured finance transactions
