Carrying out effective investigations into equality related complaints

Providing a clear understanding of how to respond appropriately to complaints of discrimination and harassment, you will also learn how to determine whether formal action is needed and how to identify, gather and evaluate evidence.

By the end of the half day course you will be able to:

  • Carry out an initial fact-finding, identify where an investigation is required and draw up terms of reference
  • Develop a thorough investigation plan identifying sources of both first and [where applicable] secondary / corroborative evidence
  • Deal with issues around interviews, including confidentiality, anonymity and companions
  • Evaluate evidence objectively
  • Compile a 'fit for purpose' investigatory report
