He is also a chartered Town Planner and advises a range of clients on development planning matters including obtaining planning permission for large scale mixed use developments.Tom advises both public and private sector clients on all aspects of the process for authorising major infrastructure schemes, with a particular emphasis on nationally significant infrastructure projects under the Planning Act 2008. He advises on all aspects of that process from the pre-application phase, preparation of the application for submission, the examination phase and through to implementation of the scheme. He advises on a wide range of issues including optioneering, consultation, environmental impact assessment, compulsory acquisition, interfaces with third parties and examination strategy and management.Outside of the major infrastructure sector he regularly advises clients on planning enforcement, public governance matters, habitats regulation assessments and judicial review and other statutory challenges.
