Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed partner Nick Tostivin to join its rapidly expanding financial services team in London, where he will lead the Finance team.

Nick’s practice focuses on trade and export finance and emerging markets across a number of jurisdictions. Based in London, his transactions span Europe, Africa, the Middle East as well as advising on US out-bound matters. Nick also brings substantial experience advising on ESG-related finance matters.

He joins from Baker McKenzie where he has practiced for almost two decades, and where he built the trade and export finance and emerging markets team into a market leading team and has led both the London and EMEA finance groups.

Head of Financial Services at Pinsent Masons, John Maciver said: “Nick is a market leader in finance. His outstanding reputation and experience will bring substantial value to the firm and support our finance team’s growth ambitions. With his strong leadership skills, Nick will be key in responding to the growing demand from clients on more complex, high value finance matters.”

Nick’s appointment follows recent hires in Pinsent Masons’ structured finance team in London, with finance and restructuring partner Harjeet Lall joining the team in September 2023 from Mayer Brown and senior counsel Marcus Mackenzie also joining the team in November 2023 from Freshfields.

Commenting on his appointment, Nick added: “I am very excited to join the Pinsent Masons’ highly regarded finance team. I look forward to being part of its next chapter and to supporting clients across the sector.”
