International law firm Pinsent Masons has furthered its commitment to gender equality by partnering with the 2016 #BeAGameChanger Awards, organised by leading UK charity the Women’s Sport Trust.

The Women’s Sport Trust raises the visibility and increases the impact of women’s sport through the promotion of role models, increasing media coverage and improving funding.

The #BeAGameChanger Awards are designed to demonstrate the power of women’s sport to accelerate gender equality both within and beyond sport. Now in their second year, the Awards highlight stories and examples of sporting role models, leaders, journalists, broadcasters and businesses that are combining to drive real change for women’s sport.  Together they make a powerful case for the sustained and joined up investment needed to achieve gender parity.

Kate Fergusson, Head of Responsible Business at Pinsent Masons commented:

"We recognise that greater diversity leads to more innovation and better outcomes and we are committed to creating a workplace where men and women are on a level playing field.  Women’s sport provides a brilliant illustration of what’s possible if you realise the talent, engagement and potential of individuals irrespective of gender. We are recognised as a market-leader in the field of diversity and this partnership is further evidence of our commitment to this issue.”

Jo Bostock, co-founder of the Women’s Sport Trust, added:

“In this, an Olympic year, the momentum behind women’s sport has never been clearer – but it still requires sustained and significant support to flourish.  The Women’s Sport Trust is connecting investors and sporting groups to ensure progress is visible, viable and unstoppable. This commitment by Pinsent Masons is significant, not least because of the high profile nature of the brand, but also because of the firm’s underlying commitment to bettering gender diversity at all levels of society.”

For the 2015 #BeAGameChanger Awards, over 25,000 public votes were received across eight categories, with 16 finalists from almost 150 nominations. Within the media, athlete, business and political communities, the event helped drive growth in awareness, funding and equality in women’s sport.

The 2016 Women’s Sport Trust #BeAGameChangeAwards will be held on 12 May 2016 at The Rambert Dance Theatre in London. The public vote for the awards will open in April.
