Pinsent Masons named Top 50 Employer for Women by The Times

International law firm Pinsent Masons has been named as a top 50 UK employer for women by The Times.

The 50 selected organisations are listed alphabetically in 'The Times Top 50 Employers for Women' report, published today.

The endorsement is further recognition of Pinsent Masons' commitment to diversity and inclusion and follows the firm's recent ranking as Stonewall's most LGBT-inclusive employer 2019.

Pinsent Masons has been acknowledged for its leadership on workplace gender equality, implementing a number of initiatives to promote gender balance across the business. These include requiring diverse candidate shortlists from recruiters, rolling out inclusive leadership training, enabling agile and flexible working to better support employees with their commitments outside of work and offering role model and mentoring schemes to nurture talent.

The firm has seen a 7% increase in female representation within the partnership to 26% since it launched in 2013, as a result of Sky, the firm's programme for improving gender balance.

The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is published in partnership with Business in the Community. Companies were selected by gender equality experts following a comprehensive assessment process.

Richard Foley, senior partner at Pinsent Masons, said:

"Encouraging flexibility, open communication and innovative thinking goes a long way towards creating inclusivity in the workplace. We get the best out of our people when they are happiest, and giving them an environment in which they can flourish plays a big part in that. Put simply, inclusivity is critical if business is to work better for people.

"Change takes time, but by engaging with organisations with shared goals we can make progress in effecting change across our industries. This is a welcome recognition of the work Pinsent Masons has been doing, and will continue to do, to achieve gender equality."

Chloe Chambraud, Director of Gender Equality at Business in the Community said:

"Congratulations to all of the organisations who have been named as Times Top 50 Employer for Women this year. Pinsent Masons' relentless work to make its workplace more diverse and more inclusive deserves to be recognised and celebrated. We are delighted to see a growing number of employers supporting men to take on more caring responsibilities and tackling the root causes of gender inequality.

"Historically companies focused on policies and processes to address the inequality and bias that employees face on a daily basis. But this is not enough.  It is only by changing the culture and promoting positive behaviours from the top that employers will see real change, and we look forward to supporting them on this journey."
