Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has been appointed to the UK Government's new Trade Law Panel in an international consortium with BakerHostetler in the USA, and Fasken in Canada, to advise on international trade law disputes.

The new Trade Law Panel was established following a competitive tendering exercise to provide the UK Government with legal advice and support on international trade disputes and remedies under the WTO rules and international trade agreements. The Panel appointment will last for four years.

The Pinsent Masons team is led by head of competition, EU and trade, Alan Davis, head of subsidies, procurement, trade agreements and trade remedies, Dr Totis Kotsonis and government affairs legal director, David Thorneloe.

Commenting on the appointment, Alan Davis said: "We are delighted to have been appointed to advise the UK Government on international trade disputes at this pivotal and exciting time in the development of the UK's independent trade policy.

"We are pleased to be working with BakerHostetler, Fasken and our other international consortium partners across the world to bring together our combined extensive experience in international trade law and dispute resolution."

Dr Totis Kotsonis said:  “Avoiding and managing trade disputes effectively is an important element of any national trade policy. This is an exciting opportunity and we look forward to working closely with the UK Government to help navigate dispute resolution processes and substantive issues with a view to achieving successful outcomes for the UK."
