Determining what is meant by "reasonable" in employment cases

This interactive online workshop explores the use of the term “reasonable” in employment law and the relevant factors to consider in each case.

It is not possible to cover every eventuality in an HR policy and a rigid, “policy driven” approach to a case may result in unfairness. This workshop builds participants confidence in exercising their judgement and coaching managers on the factors that should be considered when deciding what amounts to a reasonable decision.

Agenda

  • Use of the term “reasonable” in employment legislation and the relevant factors to consider in each case
  • How to coach managers on making “reasonable” decisions e.g. on the outcome of a disciplinary process
  • Interactive voting on hypothetical scenarios and case law guidance
  • How far should an employer go to make reasonable adjustments for disability?
