Pinsent Masons advises Wesleyan on Practice Plan Group acquisition

21 Aug 2013 | 09:30 am |

International law firm Pinsent Masons advised Wesleyan Assurance Society on its acquisition of dental insurance company Practice Plan Group, which is subject to regulatory approval.

Corporate partner Paul Harkin, senior associates Michael Lakin and Emma Callow and solicitor Phoebe Matthews led a cross-disciplinary team on the deal which further strengthens Wesleyan's position in the dental market where it already provides specialist financial advice and services to dentists.

Wesleyan adds Practice Plan Group's 2,000 practices and 600,000 plan members to its existing business focused on doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers.

Commenting on the deal Paul Harkin said:
"We were delighted to advise Wesleyan on such a significant deal which strengthens the group's footprint in the dental sector. Requiring expertise across a range of practice areas, this deal demonstrates Pinsent Masons' ability and depth of knowledge across a spectrum of legal disciplines."

Wesleyan chairman, Bryan Jackson CBE, commented:
"Wesleyan is in a position of financial strength and so can grow to the benefit of our customers and members. Our interests lie in opportunities that will develop our offering for our professional customers. This acquisition is a clear indication of our commitment to be the provider of choice for dental professionals."
