Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Aurélia de Viry as a partner in the firm’s corporate tax team in Paris, effective from 1 September.

Aurélia joins Pinsent Masons from King & Spalding where she became partner in 2014 and singlehandedly set up its tax practice before becoming its team co-head. Before joining King & Spalding, Aurélia spent 11 years with Clifford Chance and six years with CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre.

Aurélia advises clients on all areas of tax law, both domestic and international. Her wide-ranging expertise includes advising on domestic and international transactions and investments, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, intra-group reorganisations, financing transactions, setting up investment funds, and structuring executive compensation. She also represents clients in their dealings with the French tax authorities, in the context of audits, litigation and requests for rulings and approvals.

Specialising in the real estate, finance and energy sectors, Aurélia’s clients range from multinational corporations to investment funds and family offices.

In addition to her client work, Aurélia is a member of several French tax lawyer associations, including the Institut des Avocats Conseils Fiscaux and the Association des Femmes Fiscalistes (A3F), ensuring she has the latest insights on market trends, emerging tax issues and peer strategies.

Valérie Blandeau, head of Pinsent Masons’ Paris office, said, “We are delighted to welcome Aurélia, whose deep expertise in tax law will be a fantastic asset when it comes to accelerating Pinsent Masons' growth in Paris. Her strategic vision, excellent network, both in France and across the globe, and ability to support complex transactions are key skills that our clients seek. We wish Aurélia a warm welcome!”

Eloise Walker, Global Head of Corporate Tax at Pinsent Masons, stated “Our clients need advisors who have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to the very latest tax developments. Aurélia certainly ticks that box.”

Aurélia added, “Tax regulation is evolving rapidly around the world, and our clients need assistance with complex tax issues more than ever before. I am delighted to be joining Pinsent Masons, whose integrated approach, international reach and dynamic tax team particularly impressed me. Pinsent Masons offers an ideal environment when it comes to supporting clients on their most strategic cross-border transactions. It is a fast-growing firm, which is also reflected in the growth of the Paris office, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to help achieve the firm's ambitions.”
