Pinsent Masons advises Avanton on major affordable housing partnership at THE BeCa, Old Kent Road

Pinsent Masons has advised Avanton on its partnership with Hyde in relation to 64 social rented homes at THE BeCa, Old Kent Road.

This marks an important milestone in the delivery of affordable housing as part of the wider Ruby Triangle regeneration scheme, against a backdrop of significant challenges facing London's residential development sector.

The homes will be owned and operated by Hyde and have been supported by the Greater London Authority, Southwark Council, Avanton's JV partner HGP and financing provided by Cheyne Capital. THE BeCa is the first phase of Avanton's wider Ruby Triangle regeneration project on the Old Kent Road, which is planned to deliver more than 1,500 new homes.

Tim Webb, Partner at Pinsent Masons, said:

"Delivering new homes in London increasingly depends on collaboration between developers, registered providers, investors and public sector stakeholders. This partnership between Avanton and Hyde demonstrates how organisations with a shared commitment to delivery can work together to bring forward much-needed affordable housing despite a challenging market environment.

We were delighted to support Avanton in reaching this important milestone for THE BeCa and the wider Ruby Triangle regeneration project."

Chris Cobham, Development Director at Avanton, said:

“Our partnership with Hyde marks a significant milestone for THE BeCa and the wider regeneration of the Old Kent Road. Pinsent Masons has been exceptional throughout, combining deep sector expertise, commercial insight and a practical, solutions-focused approach. Their ability to navigate a complex transaction and remain relentlessly focused on delivery was instrumental in helping us achieve this outcome."

The Pinsent Masons team was led by Tim Webb, supported by Chris Hourihan and James Kane.
