International law firm Pinsent Masons has today announced that it has bolstered its litigation and arbitration team with the hire of Jessica Wicker from Close Brothers Group PLC (Close Brothers).
Jessica was previously the Head of Legal, Litigation at Close Brothers where she managed its complex, high-value litigation including the Supreme Court appeal case of Hopcraft & Anor v Close Brothers Limited & Anor. Jessica’s role involved providing strategic and commercial advice to Close Brothers’ Executive Committee and Board. Before joining Close Brothers, Jessica spent time at Signature Litigation, Eversheds Sutherland and Mishcon de Reya; she has extensive experience acting for both claimants and defendants.
Jessica’s practice will focus on advising corporates and financial services institutions on contentious and strategic litigation matters.
Joanne Gillies, partner and Co-Head of Litigation, Regulatory & Tax at Pinsent Masons, commented, “Jessica is fantastically well-connected within the financial services sector, and her expertise will further strengthen our ability to deliver strategic, client-focussed advice in complex, high-value disputes. Financial services firms face numerous litigation threats, including rapid regulatory change, intensified scrutiny from regulators, third-party and supply chain risks, operational resilience challenges, and a rising exposure to securities, antitrust and consumer collective claims. Jessica is ideally positioned to provide the careful management and strategic oversight these cases require.”
Jessica added, “My time at Close Brothers has provided me with an invaluable level of insight when it comes to understanding what Boards and Executive Committees need from their legal advisors, particularly when faced with material litigation. With Pinsent Masons rapidly cementing its reputation as a litigation powerhouse across the City, the firm provides an excellent platform from which to advise corporate clients who are facing an increasingly challenging legal landscape across a variety of areas.”
This appointment follows Fernando Tallón Martínez joining the Pinsent Masons’ litigation team in Madrid and the firm ranking for the first time in The Lawyer’s prestigious Global Litigation 50, reflecting the growing strength of its global disputes practice.
