Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has advised EDF power solutions and ESB on the sale of a one-third interest in the Gwynt Glas Offshore Wind Farm to Sumitomo Corporation, marking an important milestone in the development of one of the UK's most significant floating offshore wind projects.

Gwynt Glas, to be located in the Celtic Sea off the coast of Pembrokeshire, has secured development rights through The Crown Estate's Round 5 leasing process and is expected to have a generating capacity of up to 1.5GW, helping to support the UK's energy security ambitions.

The transaction brings together three highly experienced energy and infrastructure developers with a shared commitment to advancing floating offshore wind to deliver the economic, supply chain, and community benefits essential to growing the sector in the Celtic Sea.

The Pinsent Masons team was led by Brian Thumath and Alexandra Craig, with support from Scott Blain, Jennifer Gillespie, Sheena Bryson, Andrew McCarthy, Giles Warrington and Amanpreet Kaur.

Brian Thumath,a partner in Pinsent Masons Corporate Energy team, said: "We are pleased to have advised EDF power solutions and ESB on this significant transaction. The introduction of Sumitomo Corporation as a partner reflects the continuing appetite of leading international developers to invest in the UK offshore wind market and the long-term potential of floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea.

"We would like to congratulate EDF power solutions, ESB and Sumitomo Corporation on reaching this milestone and wish the joint venture every success as it progresses the development of the Gwynt Glas project."
