Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has hired Gillian Harrington to join the firm’s Aberdeen office as employment partner from 6 May.
Gillian joins Pinsent Masons from Burness Paull where for the last seven years she was a director in the firm’s employment Team.
Drawing on her significant experience of advising both UK and international clients, Gillian brings expertise in advising C-suite executives on complex, high-value matters.
A member of the Employment Lawyers Association, Gillian advises on both contentious and non-contentious employment issues, with a particular focus on guiding clients through transactional matters and offering strategic advice on restructuring and protecting their businesses.
Richard Scott, partner and head of office in Aberdeen, said: “Gillian’s hire is a real coup for our Aberdeen office where she will lead our employment team. Having spent her entire career in the city, she has a thorough understanding of the specific employment challenges the energy industry faces and how they impact on multinational businesses and the global supply chain.”
Manfred Schmid, Global Head of Employment & Reward, said, “Gillian’s joining Pinsent Masons reflects our ambition to keeping growing our global employment practice, with the UK a key focus in our wider strategy. As well as the measures affecting all UK organisations, the Employment Rights Bill includes proposals that will specifically affect offshore energy companies. Gillian will be ideally placed to advise our energy clients on their additional responsibilities.”
Gillian added: “Pinsent Masons has an excellent reputation in the energy sector, both in Aberdeen and globally, and I see a significant opportunity to further grow our offering. With energy companies having to increasingly balance both global and uniquely local employment considerations, I’m excited to work with my new colleagues across Pinsent Masons’ global network to meet this need.”
The appointment is the latest in Pinsent Masons global employment & reward practice, following the appointment of Dr. Sairah Narmah-Alqasim as employment practice head in Riyadh in March.
