Pinsent Masons continues to enhance its Energy practice in Spain with the appointment of Lucía González as an M&A Energy Partner, further strengthening the Madrid-based team led by Hermenegildo Altozano.

Lucía joins from Ontier, where she has spent a number of years as the partner responsible for the Renewables sector. She brings more than 15 years’ experience in the energy sector and a strong track record advising on complex transactional matters. Throughout her career, she has advised investors, developers, producers, contractors, distributors and energy suppliers on the structuring and development of projects, providing legal and strategic advice throughout the entire lifecycle of their initiatives, both in Spain and internationally. Her experience includes the acquisition and disposal of wind and solar portfolios, investment platforms and the design of bespoke solutions for new business models that have emerged in recent years, such as self-consumption, hybrid projects, energy storage, renewable gases and data centres.

Francisco Aldavero, Head of Pinsent Masons’ Madrid office, commented: “Lucía’s appointment is a significant addition to our Spanish energy practice and a clear reflection of our long‑term commitment to the sector. Her depth of experience and commercial insight will materially enhance the support we provide to clients as they navigate regulatory change, market volatility and the accelerating pace of the energy transition”.

Lucía González added: ““I am delighted to be joining Pinsent Masons at such a pivotal moment for the energy sector and for the firm’s energy practice in Spain. Pinsent Masons’ strong focus on the energy transition, combined with its international reach and market leading insight into investor trends in the low carbon space, makes it an ideal platform from which to support clients in delivering innovative and sustainable energy projects and high-impact transactions.”

Julia Maguire, Global Head of Energy, said: “As the energy sector responds to the challenges and opportunities of geopolitical shifts and drives to net zero around the world, it is fantastic to welcome Lucia to our market-leading Spanish energy team to strengthen our global offering to energy clients. Lucía’s deep experience and expertise across the sector will be invaluable to our market-leading practice and our ability to support clients delivering complex, cross border energy projects at scale.”

This appointment follows other recent strategic hires to the Spanish Energy team, including the appointment of Legal Director Leticia Sitges. Lucía’s hire further consolidates Pinsent Masons’ position as a leading firm in the Spanish market when it comes to advising on renewable, decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects.
