Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Thomas Shen as a Partner in its Structured Finance team, based in London.

Thomas joins the firm from Simmons & Simmons, and brings more than 15 years’ experience advising investment banks, asset managers and financial product manufacturers on a broad range of capital markets, structured products and derivatives transactions. His expertise includes structured notes, exchange traded products, OTC derivatives, repos, securities lending and bespoke hedging solutions.

He will join Pinsent Masons on Monday 1 June.

Prior to Simmons & Simmons, Thomas spent a decade at Linklaters, where he developed a strong track record advising on complex and innovative structured finance and derivatives matters.

Edward Sunderland, Partner and Head of Structured Finance at Pinsent Masons, said: “Thomas is an excellent addition to our team and a significant boost to our structured finance capability. His expertise in derivatives and structured products strengthens our ability to advise clients on increasingly complex and evolving transactions."

On his appointment, Thomas added: “Pinsent Masons has a strong reputation in financial services and a clear focus on delivering commercial, sector-driven advice. I am excited to join the firm and to work with colleagues across its international platform to further develop the structured finance and derivatives offering, supporting clients as they navigate increasingly complex products and evolving market demands.”

This latest appointment follows the recent hires of Partners Stuart Murdoch in May, and Jessica Wicker in January, as Pinsent Masons continues to invest in strengthening its financial services capabilities.
