Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed pensions partner Amie Bain into its Glasgow office.
Amie is the second pensions partner the firm has appointed this year, following the hire of Andy Wright in Leeds in March, and taking the size of the pensions team over 70 members.
Amie advises trustee and corporate clients on a variety of pensions law issues including scheme governance and documentation, funding and investment structures, and member and benefit queries, with a specialism in the electricity and financial services industries. Amie supports trustees and companies in implementing strategic projects including buy-ins, buy-outs and other de-risking initiatives, scheme mergers and restructurings and corporate transactions.
She joins from Shepherd & Wedderburn where she has been for the last 14 years.
Head of Pinsent Masons’ Pensions & Long-Term Savings, Stephen Scholefield, said: “The pensions market is currently going through a vast transformation in Scotland and more widely in the UK. Amie’s reputation and skillset will bring tremendous value for clients in this changing market, thanks to her business mindset and her commercially focused and straightforward advice.”
Commenting on her appointment, Amie added: “Pinsent Masons has a strong offering in the pensions market, and I am excited to join such a highly regarded team with a deep level of expertise. I look forward to contributing to its success.”
Amie joins the wider Pinsent Masons’ financial services team, which has recently appointed Harjeet Lall in London, Benoît Rose and Jan Saalfrank in Luxembourg, Tom McHugh and Andy Wright in Leeds, and Lisa Carty in Dublin this year.
