Emma's experience

  • Advised a major listed healthcare and pharmaceutical distribution business on complex multi-party litigation in the Queensland Supreme Court and Federal Circuit and Family Court. Matters involved third-party claims arising from former employee conduct and enterprise agreement disputes, addressing employer indemnification, workforce restructures, and national industrial relations strategy issues.

  • Advised a large national employer in the industrial materials sector on a complex payroll compliance review involving enterprise agreement and award entitlements. Identified underpayment risks and unnecessary remediation areas, supporting a targeted remediation strategy, Fair Work Ombudsman disclosure, employee communications and repayment processes, while strengthening payroll compliance.

  • Advised a global agribusiness company on suspected fraudulent conduct involving high-value corporate travel bookings. Provided advice on internal investigations, litigation strategy and Supreme Court proceedings for preliminary discovery, while preparing applications to preserve critical evidence and support investigations into the potential misuse of corporate funds.

  • Acted for a large global aviation catering and logistics company in recovering a significant wage overpayment from a former employee. The matter involved contested repayment, financial hardship considerations and enforcement risks. We advised on recovery strategy, commenced proceedings in the Victorian Magistrates’ Court, and represented the client in court-facilitated mediation.

  • Represented an Australian health fund in successfully defending an unfair dismissal application in the Fair Work Commission arising from a strategically important redundancy decision. The claim was dismissed in full, preserving management discretion over future workforce restructures and reinforcing our client’s ability to make commercially-driven operational decisions with confidence.

  • Advised a Nasdaq-listed global electric vehicle manufacturer on strategic employment law matters across its Australian operations, helping mitigate workplace risk and strengthen compliance frameworks. This included preparing a comprehensive harassment and discrimination prevention plan for its Queensland operations, aligned with evolving legislative requirements and employment law best practice standards.

  • Advised a large facilities management company on payroll compliance investigations by a government regulator and the Fair Work Ombudsman. Managed complex award interpretation issues, alleged underpayments and regulatory scrutiny of payroll practices, including regulatory engagement, a comprehensive payroll audit and remediation programme, and responses to information requests.

  • Advised a large national employer on enterprise agreement bargaining strategy, including employee representation, union engagement and compliance with approval requirements. Enabled a commercially focused approach that minimised operational risk and was implemented across multiple bargaining rounds nationally, establishing a consistent and effective framework for enterprise agreement negotiations.

  • Undertook a payroll compliance review for a large Aged Care Provider operating in NSW and ACT by reviewing and preparing pay rules for pay related entitlements arising from the relevant Enterprise Agreements, advising on complex interpretation issues to mitigate compliance risks arising from the employer’s payroll practices and remediation.

  • Successfully prevented repeated strike actions at a logistics company site by filing an application with the Fair Work Commission to stop unprotected industrial action. The application argued that the industrial action would threaten community health and safety by disrupting logistics services.
