Intellectual Property, Innovation and Technology

Successful joint ventures of the future will include technology considerations at their heart.

This module assesses how the issues of intellectual property, innovation and technology impact on joint ventures when delivering global mega infrastructure projects.

Planning for maximum success over the life of an infrastructure asset or project will require JVs to collaborate and share data and to navigate their way through a myriad of compliance and intellectual property rights concerns.

Mark Enzer

Chief Technical Officer, Mott MacDonald

Second-guessing specific future technology solutions will be almost impossible, but a focus on awareness of emerging technologies and providers, compliance, contracts and collaboration, will all help to mitigate any potentially disruptive impacts

Key Considerations

  • Plan a strategy for data, IP and compliance issues
  • Understand data-related issues such as usage rights and compliance
  • Consider how Intellectual Property Rights are to be exploited
  • Understand legal and regulatory compliance issues such as privacy laws, information security and data ethics
