Pinsent Masons appoints energy and infrastructure MA partner in South Africa

International law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Lloyd Chater as a partner in its Johannesburg office.

Lloyd has over 20 years' experience in M&A and commercial law, with a keen focus on industrials, construction, engineering and mining sectors. He advises on various matters including acquisitions and disposals, supply and service agreements, construction projects, tendering, consortia & joint ventures, infrastructure and mining projects, and industrial and commercial property transactions.

Lloyd joins from Bowmans where he led their cross practice group construction sector offering.

Lloyd will be working across the continent of Africa, focussing on M&A matters relating to infrastructure and energy assets, equity capital markets, as well as corporate and commercial law advice.

Pinsent Masons has been handling transactions and matters for international clients with interests throughout Africa for over 40 years. Recent experience includes advising an oil and gas company on the construction, supply and finance agreements for a modular refinery complex at the Port of Monrovia in the Republic of Liberia; advising a chemical producer on the development of an Anhydrous Hydrogen Plant and Aluminium Fluoride plant; and advising a client on the construction of Arena Mall in Kampala, Uganda. Pinsent Masons has also been supporting multiple contractors on various conventional power projects (Medupi and Kusile) and a number of other renewable power projects in South Africa and elsewhere in Africa.
