Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has added to it Australian financial services capabilities with the appointment of partner Hannah Griffiths to lead the firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice in Australia.
Hannah joins the firm, together with a team of specialist lawyers, to spearhead the development of the restructuring and insolvency practice in Australia.
Hannah joins from Gilchrist Connell where she built and led the restructuring and insolvency practice. Joining Hannah will be senior associates Phoebe Martin and Arvand Ghazizadeh, and associate Jemimah McLaughlin.
Hannah will be based in the firm’s Sydney office and will deliver specialist domestic and cross-border restructuring and insolvency advice to clients. Hannah advises on all facets of corporate restructuring, personal restructuring and insolvency for a range of insolvency practitioners throughout the lifecycle of informal appointments and formal external administrations, corporate and private financiers and creditors.
Head of Pinsent Masons Australia, Matthew Croagh, said: “Our focus in the Asia Pacific region is to provide legal services for the full life cycle of projects for our energy and infrastructure clients. The launch of an Australian restructuring and insolvency practice with the appointment of Hannah and her team is a key component of delivering the whole lifecycle of legal services to the firm’s clients.
“The hire of Hannah and her team represent an important step in the firm’s commitment to expanding it capabilities in Australia adding local presence to multinational teams.”
Alongside her transactional work, Hannah advises on non-contentious and contentious disputes on behalf of insolvency practitioners, corporate and private financiers and private clients in relation to corporations, securities, equity and trust related matters. Hannah also provides strategic corporate governance, financial and credit management ‘best practice’ advice and ‘safe harbour’ advisory services for corporate clients.
Commenting on her move, Hannah said: “Pinsent Masons has a very clear strategy about how it wants to grow and service its clients in the Asia Pacific region. We want to support those companies who find themselves in stressed or distressed situations. Our team offers the specialist expertise locally and internationally to help clients successfully navigate challenging situations when they emerge by evaluating and generating commercially sound solutions that both create and preserve value.”
Hannah’s appointment follows on from the appointments in the second half of 2023 of planning and environment partner Florence Reviere and the launch of an Australian employment and reward practice with the hire of a team of six lawyers, led by partners Aaron Goonrey, Ben McKinley and Neil Napper.
