Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has been appointed by leading social enterprise and climate charity, The Eden Project, as its sole legal advisor.
The firm will provide The Eden Project with full service legal advice spanning all areas of the business including data protection, intellectual property, finance, property, and charity law.
The Eden project is a social enterprise and educational charity that builds relationships between people and the natural world. A growing movement, the Project is currently spearheading climate programmes around the world including in China, the UK, New Zealand and Costa Rica.
Michael Watson, partner and head of Pinsent Masons’ Climate and Sustainability Advisory practice said: “As a purpose-led professional services business we are focused on reducing our impact on the environment as well as collaborating with clients as they develop and advance their climate strategies. As net zero journeys gather pace, supporting major renewable projects that are revolutionising the energy sector and investment into ESG-led schemes will increasingly be brought into sharp focus. Our experience advising on these kinds of projects, as well as our own efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, has given us a perfect foundation to collaborate with The Eden Project and support them and their pioneering projects around the world. We look forward to this exciting new chapter with The Eden Project.”
Pinsent Masons is working hard to minimise its impact on the environment. After a twelve-month audit to calculate its baseline global carbon footprint the firm has kickstarted an ambitious carbon reduction strategy which has already achieved a 25% reduction of electricity consumption in two of the firm’s largest offices compared to pre-pandemic levels. In May 2022, Pinsent Masons was also one of the first law firms to have its target to be a net-zero business by 2040 verified by the Science Based Targets initiative.
