Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Hayley Harris to be the firm’s first global chief knowledge and AI adoption officer.

Hayley will be responsible for delivering the firm’s knowledge strategy and the selection and deployment of legal generative AI tools.

Hayley joins Pinsent Masons from BCLP where she held the position of global director of knowledge and AI enablement. In this role, Hayley was in charge of delivering practical solutions to help BCLP’s lawyers successfully leverage knowledge and generative AI tools. Before joining BCLP’s knowledge strategy team in 2017, Hayley practised as a property litigator.

Pinsent Masons has created Hayley’s position to help ensure the firm’s adoption of generative AI tools enhances the services it delivers to clients, supports long-term growth and provides the firm with a competitive advantage.

Hayley will work closely with the firm’s Director of Transformation Neil Green, who will continue to be responsible for the day-to-day deployment of generative AI tools. As part of Pinsent Masons’ Innovation and Change Board, Hayley will help ensure the firm’s adoption of generative AI tools aligns with its wider technology strategy, deploying the right tools effectively and securely across the firm’s global footprint.

Matt Peers, Pinsent Masons’ global chief operating officer, commented, “Hayley’s vision, passion and technical understanding regarding legal knowledge functions are exceptional. The constant proliferation of generative AI solutions means we need someone who can cut through the noise and help us choose the best tools for us to deploy to support our clients in meaningful ways.”

Hayley added “Our clients are under pressure to demonstrate greater value through using technology, especially generative AI. I’m excited to work alongside my new colleagues to ensure we adopt generative AI tools that fully leverage our firm’s proprietary knowledge and translate into practical solutions that move the needle for our clients.”
