International law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Florian Traub to establish its European Brand Portfolio Management team, a trade mark and design right filing practice.
Traub, who joins from Squire Patton Boggs, is a dual qualified English Solicitor and German Rechtsanwalt specialising in brand protection strategies and portfolio management.
His appointment enhances the firm's ability to provide a total solution to clients around IP rights, protection, management and enforcement.
Traub's extensive experience in contentious soft IP for major brands complements the team's existing focus on the retail & consumer, technology and life sciences sectors and will strengthen its capability in other sectors including energy and financial services.
Clare Tunstall, Head of IP & Life Sciences at Pinsent Masons, said:
"We're experiencing increasing demand from clients across all of our global sectors for a one stop shop solution to soft IP issues. The synergies created by the combination of Florian's practice with that of our existing IP team and our sectoral approach will certainly bring added value to them."
Florian Traub added:
"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to build the European trademark practice and look forward to working with the firm's cross border teams in Germany and France. Pinsent Masons' IP practice has conducted some ground breaking work on trade mark prosecution matters in the past and I look forward to developing that further."
Pinsent Masons' soft IP team advises a number of clients including Interflora, Specsavers, L'Oreal and Flynn Pharma.
