Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has hired litigation lawyer Valérie van den Berg as a partner to build out the litigation capability in its Amsterdam office.
Moving from Baker McKenzie, Valérie’s practice focuses on matters involving national and cross-border corporate and commercial litigation, restructuring and international arbitration. Valérie is also increasingly advising clients on ESG-related matters, with a particular focus on the governance and reporting requirements.
Her appointment follows the recent lateral partner hire of Lisa Carty in the Litigation Regulatory and Tax team in Dublin, reinforcing the firm’s pan-European litigation offering. Furthermore, the firm has developed its international arbitration capabilities hiring Graham Coop, Sylvia Tonova, Amaia Rivas Kortazar and Gaëlle Filhol this year.
Head of Pinsent Masons’ Amsterdam office, Wouter Seinen, said: “Valérie will play a significant role in the crossover between our international corporate and commercial offerings. Her broad experience and energetic personality will pave the road for a strong litigation practice in Amsterdam.”
Valérie's appointment takes the Netherlands partnership to a 50/50 gender balance.
Commenting on her appointment, Valérie said: “The Netherlands is a region of increasing importance for international disputes, and I’m looking forward to joining Pinsent Masons’ highly regarded litigation team across Europe to support clients in Amsterdam and internationally.”
Since its launch in February 2021, the firm’s Amsterdam office has grown to over 40 professionals, servicing international clients in the Technology and Life Sciences, Financial Services and Energy sectors.
