Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons MPillay has appointed David Clinch as a partner to its corporate team in Singapore.
David joins us from Shearman & Sterling and is considered one of the leading energy and infrastructure lawyers and dealmakers in Asia Pacific, with a practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and projects, advising on transactions and projects across Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.
David starts with Pinsent Masons MPillay today.
Commenting on his appointment, David said that Pinsent Masons MPillay was a perfect fit for his practice.
“Pinsent Masons MPillay already has a very strong focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors, which is at the core of the work I do, including in energy transition,” David said.
“I am really looking forward to bringing my experience and expertise to further enhance the capability of the firm in Singapore and throughout Asia Pacific and to growing the energy and infrastructure practice with colleagues at the firm.”
David’s appointment is the latest strategic addition to the Pinsent Masons team in the Asia Pacific region. The firm promoted five partners across the region in May 2023 and followed that with key lateral appointments in Australia, including the launch of an employment and reward practice, a restructuring and insolvency practice and, most recently, a dedicated work health and safety practice.
Head of Corporate in Asia Pacific, Nicholas Hanna, said David Clinch’s appointment demonstrated the firm’s commitment to energy and infrastructure clients in the region.
“David has an outstanding reputation as a dealmaker and brings considerable knowledge and capability in the energy and infrastructure sector. David has been at the forefront of many significant renewable energy deals across the world and will add a further dimension to our corporate offering across Asia Pacific,” Nicholas said.
The firm’s Head of Asia Pacific, James Morgan-Payler, said David’s appointment was another strategic appointment to deepen the services the firm provides its clients within Asia Pacific.
“David is another outstanding appointment for us in the region. He brings extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors at a time of high activity in the region when it comes to major infrastructure projects, in particular when it comes to the renewal of energy infrastructure in the region.”
