International law firm and UK’s no.1 legal real estate team, Pinsent Masons has been named as the 2015 UK 'Real Estate Firm of the Year' by Legal 500.

Following the success in the UK Legal 500 rankings, Pinsent Masons won the Legal 500 award in the UK Real Estate category. Rather than relying on submissions, the newly formed awards are based on the opinions of the 250,000 in-house lawyers, Legal 500 contacts throughout the year, and the in-depth research they conduct into law firms.

Pinsent Masons was shortlisted alongside five others and scooped the award ahead of Berwin Leighton Paisner, CMS, Herbert Smith Freehills, Nabarro and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co.

Legal 500 said that with a team that ‘drives timetables and negotiations with energy and determination’, Pinsent Masons LLP continues to win high-profile project and advisory instructions in energy, infrastructure, real estate development and public sector mandates.

Arthur Lovitt, Head of Real Estate at Pinsent Masons, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by Legal 500 as the real estate firm of the year. We have a tremendous team of Real Estate lawyers, expert in all areas of domestic and international finance, investment, development, planning, governmental and environmental law across key business sectors.”

The Pinsent Masons’ Real Estate team currently work on some of the UK’s most significant projects including Earl’s Court, Royal Albert Docks, Olympic Park Legacy, Northern Line Extension, The Centre Livingston (Scottish shopping centre) and Arena Central Development LLP (on HSBC office space), plus numerous other projects across the whole of the UK. The team is unique in working across all the UK’s three legal jurisdictions with eight UK office locations. In recent years the team has worked with an increasing number of institutional investors as well as new international investors into the UK market.

The guide is aimed at buyers of legal services, particularly general/corporate counsel. Published annually, it is researched and written by an experienced team. The research process involves inviting submissions from law firms across the UK, in accordance with guidelines.
